AIR QUALITY POLICY
At a rating of 7 or above, all games and practices MUST be cancelled as this is considered unplayable conditions. These cancellations will be made by the coaches or by the Bow Ridge Board. Please use this LINK to monitor the air quality in Calgary.
LIGHTNING POLICY
Stop any game or practice at the first sound of thunder and permanently discontinue any game or practice at the first sign of any lightning. During the play of game, it is the umpire's decision to suspend or prematurely call a game complete due to the presence of thunder or lightning. It is important to stay calm. Stay away from metal fencing and avoid trees, poles and other higher objects. Do not hold a metal bat. Walk, dont run, to the nearest safe shelter or your car.
HEAT WARNING POLICY
Anytime the temperature is above 32 degrees Celsius, provide plenty of water, shade and rest periods during games and practices. Encourage players to drink small amounts frequently. If the observe any player exhibiting signs of head related illness (cramps, fatigue, light headedness, nausea, vomiting or headache) you must remove the player from the field immediately, place in shade and hydrate. If symptoms do not improve, seek prompt medical aid.
COLD POLICY
Games are not to be played if the temperatue is 5 degrees Celsius or less at the diamond location. Temperatures within the 5-10 degrees Celsius range with excessive rain or wind should also prompt coaches to consider the possibility of postponement of a game or practice, with discussions with other coaches and umpires as needed.
