Junior Program Clinic Information

Clinic -- 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Location: Chestermere Rec Center

201 West Chestermere Drive Chestermere AB

This program is designed for coaches already working with or plan to work with the Junior Program (ages 13 and 14).   As well, for Major coaches who have plans to move up to this program in 2013.   However, anyone interested is welcome. The focus will be on the transition of the managers, coaches and players from the Majors to the Junior Program. This would include the challenges players will encounter adapting to a 90 foot diamond.

 The skills covered in this session will be as follows:

*Warm-up
*Review of hitting
*Advanced throwing and catching
*Ground balls to include forehand and backhand
*All lead-off situations including pick-off plays
*Pitcher set position, balk situations, and pitcher pick-off to all bases
*Pitcher coverage responsibilities
*Double plays from second base and shortstop - feeds and footwork
*Push and drag bunts
*Relay and cutoff situations to third and home
*Infield positioning

 The majority of the information will be taken from the Playing the Game manual along with the Additional Innings manual. Al Herback will bring this program to life in just 4 hours. Plan to attend to plan your season!   Bring your glove and comfortable clothing to enjoy the fun! The only cost to the participants will be a voluntary Food Bank donation.
