Bow Ridge Baseball All-Star Program

All-Star Program

May 17, 2016

Bow Ridge will once again be participating in the Little League All-Star Program this summer. We will plan to submit teams into the All-Star program for each of the Minors (9/10 years), National/Majors Divisions (11/12 years), Intermediate (13 years), Juniors (13/14 years) and Seniors (15/16 years).

AAA (Tier 1) All-Stars

There will be one AAA All-Star team per division consisting of 12 players. Team selection will be made through a tryout and Manager selection process. AAA All-Star players can expect to play/practice up to six days per week starting in June and continuing to the end of July.

AAA teams play games against other District 3 AAA teams as well as participate in other various tournaments.   Teams will be provided the opportunity to participate in the Prairie Invitational Championship tournament for their division. AAA All-Star teams who are successful at the Prairie Championships are then provided an opportunity to participate in the Little League Canadian Championships and if successful, then.....The Little League World Series!!

AA All-Stars

This program provides an opportunity to those players wishing to be exposed to an extra month of development at a higher competitive level than our regular season and to provide an alternative to those players who were unsuccessful in being placed on a AAA All-Star team. Team selection will be by try-out and coach selection, however the criteria is significantly lower than that for AAA tryouts as it is our aim to provide more opportunities for our players to play in July.

AA All-Star teams play games against other District 3 AA teams in addition to the July Long weekend tournament in Airdrie and other potential tournaments. All AA Teams are provided automatic entry into the Prairie Championship Tournament to be played over the August long weekend.

Based on coach availability and number of interested participants, Bow Ridge will consider submitting more than one AA All-Star team in any one division. AA All-Star players can expect to play 4-5 days per week from the end of the regular season until the August Long Weekend.

Fees

There will be a charge of $75 for all players who are successful in being placed on any of Bow Ridge's All-Star teams to cover the costs of diamond rentals, district tournament fee plus one additional tournament, umpires and uniforms. In addition to the fee, players/parents will be responsible for all travel and accommodations. Additional fees may be required should a team decided to participate in additional tournaments, etc.

Player Selection Process and Criteria

Selection criteria are: eligibility, availability, ability, skills, desire and specific team needs.  In addition to baseball skills, a player's behaviour throughout the entire baseball season will be considered, as well as consistency with the Players Code of Conduct including a positive attitude, sportsmanship, teamwork and regular participation.

The players are expected to make a commitment to attend all practices and games. If a player is trying out for an All-Star AAA or AA team, the parents should let the head coach know if vacations and other conflicts (other sports) will prevent the player from participating at any time during the All-Star season. Player availability may affect team selection.

Eligibility

For AAA and AA All-Star selection, you must play on a league team, live or attend school within the Bow Ridge Little League boundaries and must have participated in at least 60% of their team's scheduled games during the regular season.

Communication and Timing of All-Star Team Tryouts

A notice will be issued by the League regarding the tryout dates, times and locations for All-Star teams in each division. AAA teams will have tryouts first, followed by tryouts for AA teams typically 1-2 weeks after.

 Managers and Coaches

Managers of the AAA and AA All-Star teams are selected by the BRLL Board of Directors' Executive.  A request for applications for All-Star Manager/Coaches is sent out in May and all interested Managers/Coaches are required to submit their application by the specified date.  The appointed Managers will be responsible for the player selections for their respective teams. The Manager will also select his/her assistant coaches which will be approved by the BRLL All-Star Selection Committee.
