Bow Ridge Little Leauge Baseball is looking at the addition of a new division for the 2015 season.
This Intermediate Division, as created by Little League International will be for players age 12 to 13.  It features 50 foot for the pitching mound (vs. 46 feet at the Major division) and 70 foot base paths (vs. 60 feet for Majors).  A key feature of this division is the introduction of full baseball rules, including leading, stealing, pickoffs and balks.
This division was created by Little League International in 2012 in response to dwindling participation in both majors and juniors division. In the past, 13 year olds would have to jump to a full sized field (60 foot pitching distance, 90 foot base paths). This is often a difficult transition as many 13 year olds lack the strength to compete on a Junior field.  In just 3 years the Intermediate Division has grown from 447 teams worldwide to over 6000.
Bow Ridge plans to have both a tier 1 and tier 2 team depending on registration numbers. Players with a league age of 12 will have a choice of trying out for the Intermediate team or a Major team. Players with a league age of 13 will have the choice of trying out for an intermediate team or a juniors team.   These intermediate teams will most likely have some travel involved.
More information will be posted as it becomes available.
