All-Star/Summer Ball Program
Bow Ridge will once again be participating in the Little League All-Star and Summer Ball Program. We will be submitting teams into the AAA and the Summer ball program for each of the Minors (9/10), National/Majors (11/12), and Teenage (13-16) divisions.
AAA All-Stars
There will be one AAA All-Star team for Minors and Majors consisting of 12 players. Team selection will be made through a tryout. AAA All-Star players can expect to play/practice up to six days per week starting in June and continuing to the end of July.
The Manager will select tournaments for the AAA teams to participate in to get ready for the Prairie/Divisional Championship tournament for their division. AAA All-Star teams who are successful at the Prairie/Divisional Championships are then provided an opportunity to participate in the Little League Canadian Championships and if successful, The Little League World Series!!
Summer Ball
This program provides an opportunity to those players wishing to be exposed to an extra month of development, but unlike the Regular season, which focuses on giving every player the opportunity to play multiple positions, coaches will set the batting line-up and defensive positioning in a way they feel will give the team the best competitive advantage. Team selection will be by try-out, however all skill levels are welcome. It is our aim to provide more opportunities for our players to play in July. If there are sufficient players and coaches, we will have more than one summer ball team in the divisions.
Every team must compete in a minimum of 2 seeding weekends, 2 regular tournament weekends and a championship weekend against other Little League Alberta teams. This might require travel and overnight stays.
Players can expect to play/practice 3-5 days per week from the end of the regular season until the August Long Weekend
Fees
There will be a $100.00 fee assessed for all players who are successful in being placed on any of Bow Ridge's All-Star/Summer ball teams to cover the costs of diamond rentals, district tournament fee, umpires and uniforms. In addition to the fee, players/parents will be responsible for all travel and accommodations. Additional fees may be required should a team decided to participate in additional tournaments, etc.
Player Selection Process and Criteria
Selection criteria are: eligibility, availability, ability, skills, desire and specific team needs. In addition to baseball skills, a player's behaviour throughout the entire baseball season will be considered, as well as consistency with the Players Code of Conduct including a positive attitude, sportsmanship, teamwork and regular participation.
AAA players are expected to make a commitment to attend 90% of all practices and games. If a player is trying out for a Summer ball team, the parents should let the head coach know if vacations and other conflicts (other sports) will prevent the player from participating at any time during the season. Player availability may affect team selection
Eligibility
Any player may try out for any All-Star/Summer ball team for which they are eligible to play based on their age and residence eligibility requirements. For All-Star team selection, you must play on a league team, live or attend school within the BRLL boundaries and be of legal age for your division. For All-Star teams these ages are 9-10 for Minor, 11-12 for Major.
It is mandatory that players play within their designated division and age group for either an All-Star AAA, or Summer Ball teams.
