NEW Infield/Outfield Drill for Majors, Juniors, Seniors and Big League Evaluations
This year, Bow Ridge is introducing a new drill to evaluate INFIELD and OUTFIELD for Majors, Juniors, Seniors and Big League. It provides a more realistic game situation and will really test the skill level of players in these divisions.
The drill encompasses the whole area of the Dome and for this reason, no other drills will be run simultaneously while this drill is occurring. The Infielder and Outfielder will be positioned at a distance that is appropriate for their age group and the Batter will hit the balls at a speed that is age appropriate.
Please invite your player to view this video prior to their evaluation day so they can see how it is done.
NOTE: In the video, the player pairings are only going through the drill for one time, but in evaluations, they will be going though the drill for multiple times before the next player pairing.
Cut-Off Drill Video
Here is a written description of the drill:
2 lines of players, one for infield and one for outfield. Infielder goes to infield position and outfielder goes to outfield position. Batter hits ground ball to infielder, infielder fields ball and throws to the catcher and infielder stays in same position. Batter hits another ball to the outfielder (ideally in the air), outfielder fields ball and throws to the infielder (who acts as cut-off man), then infielder throws ball to the catcher. The pair will go through this for 3 consecutive times (1 round) and then the next pairing will do the drill and so on. Each pairing will go through approximately 2-3 rounds to allow the evaluators to get the scores recorded.
This is a fun and challenging drill that we hope the players will enjoy! If there are any questions please contact Aaron Baumgarten,
